“… The Shift in Human Nature

You're starting to see integrity change. Awareness recalibrates integrity, and the Human Being who would sit there and take advantage of another Human Being in an old energy would never do it in a new energy. The reason? It will become intuitive, so this is a shift in Human Nature as well, for in the past you have assumed that people take advantage of people first and integrity comes later. That's just ordinary Human nature.

In the past, Human nature expressed within governments worked like this: If you were stronger than the other one, you simply conquered them. If you were strong, it was an invitation to conquer. If you were weak, it was an invitation to be conquered. No one even thought about it. It was the way of things. The bigger you could have your armies, the better they would do when you sent them out to conquer. That's not how you think today. Did you notice?

Any country that thinks this way today will not survive, for humanity has discovered that the world goes far better by putting things together instead of tearing them apart. The new energy puts the weak and strong together in ways that make sense and that have integrity. Take a look at what happened to some of the businesses in this great land (USA). Up to 30 years ago, when you started realizing some of them didn't have integrity, you eliminated them. What happened to the tobacco companies when you realized they were knowingly addicting your children? Today, they still sell their products to less-aware countries, but that will also change.

What did you do a few years ago when you realized that your bankers were actually selling you homes that they knew you couldn't pay for later? They were walking away, smiling greedily, not thinking about the heartbreak that was to follow when a life's dream would be lost. Dear American, you are in a recession. However, this is like when you prune a tree and cut back the branches. When the tree grows back, you've got control and the branches will grow bigger and stronger than they were before, without the greed factor. Then, if you don't like the way it grows back, you'll prune it again! I tell you this because awareness is now in control of big money. It's right before your eyes, what you're doing. But fear often rules. …”

Dutch in no-fly zone dilemma

When a no-fly zone was imposed on Bosnia in the 1990s, the Netherlands was one of the first to declare its support for the mission. And Dutch F-16 fighter jets were among the first NATO planes to patrol Bosnian air space. However, the Dutch government is not nearly as eager now that a no-fly zone for Libya is in the works.

Its reluctance has everything to do with the three Dutch soldiers being held by the Libyans following a botched evacuation mission a little over a week ago. This is also why the defence ministry refuses to comment on a possible Dutch role in imposing a no-fly zone. A defence ministry spokesperson said: “We are closely following everything that is being said. However, we are not making any statements regarding Libya because of ongoing diplomatic consultations intended to secure the release of our people.”

AWACS

However, defence expert and former general Kees Homan says that, in a sense, the Netherlands is already involved in preparations for a possible no-fly zone via the AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System) planes which are monitoring Libyan air space 24/7.

"The AWACS planes are the collective property of all NATO member states. They are stationed in Geilenkirchen in Germany. And they are manned by multi-national crews supplied by the member states, including the Netherlands."

A no-fly zone would pose a dilemma for the Netherlands: taking part could adversely affect the welfare of the three captured soldiers. Refusing to participate, on the other hand, would tarnish the carefully cultivated image of the Netherlands as a loyal NATO ally which has taken part in numerous peace-keeping missions across the globe.

Compromise

Retired general Homan says there a compromise would be possible.

“A compromise could involve political support for a no-fly zone without supplying crews for the AWACS planes. However, I feel that would be a sign of weakness because I don’t believe it would persuade Kaddafi to treat the captured soldiers any better than if we did supply AWACS crews. Kaddafi is an unpredictable character in this regard. The UN Security Council will possibly discuss a no-fly zone for Libya still this week, but Russia has said it has objections to such a measure. However, NATO could decide to impose a no-fly zone even without a UN resolution."

Veto

Mr Homan says the doctrine of the ‘responsibility to protect’ has found universal acceptance. “This means the international community must take responsibility when states fail to protect their citizens. In this type of situation it is always preferable to seek a Security Council resolution, but I do not rule out NATO invoking this doctrine should Russia veto a UN resolution. “

The former general says the Netherlands can stay on the sidelines should NATO impose a no-fly zone without a UN mandate. “Just think about Kosovo, when NATO decided to intervene with fighter planes. All member states signed on politically, but Greece did not take part in the actual operation because it maintains close ties with neighbouring Serbia.

Difficult negotiating position

A wide majority in the Dutch parliament favours a no-fly zone, preferably based on a UN resolution, but nobody is willing to link such a measure to the fate of the three Dutch soldiers. MP Han ten Broeke, defence specialist for the main coalition partner VVD refuses to answer the question whether Dutch agreement to, or participation in, a no-fly zone would make for a more difficult negotiating position with Libya.

“I am not going to comment on that. I feel it’s important that we should monitor the situation in Libya. That is what the international community is doing, and the Netherlands is part of that international community. And when the international community is discussing a no-fly zone, than that is a justified debate. The Dutch government feels that a UN resolution would be preferable for imposing a no-fly zone, parliament agrees to that, and that is all I have to say.”
