… The Shift in Human Nature

You're starting to see integrity change. Awareness recalibrates integrity, and the Human Being who would sit there and take advantage of another Human Being in an old energy would never do it in a new energy. The reason? It will become intuitive, so this is a shift in Human Nature as well, for in the past you have assumed that people take advantage of people first and integrity comes later. That's just ordinary Human nature.

In the past, Human nature expressed within governments worked like this: If you were stronger than the other one, you simply conquered them. If you were strong, it was an invitation to conquer. If you were weak, it was an invitation to be conquered. No one even thought about it. It was the way of things. The bigger you could have your armies, the better they would do when you sent them out to conquer. That's not how you think today. Did you notice?

Any country that thinks this way today will not survive, for humanity has discovered that the world goes far better by putting things together instead of tearing them apart. The new energy puts the weak and strong together in ways that make sense and that have integrity. Take a look at what happened to some of the businesses in this great land (USA). Up to 30 years ago, when you started realizing some of them didn't have integrity, you eliminated them. What happened to the tobacco companies when you realized they were knowingly addicting your children? Today, they still sell their products to less-aware countries, but that will also change.

What did you do a few years ago when you realized that your bankers were actually selling you homes that they knew you couldn't pay for later? They were walking away, smiling greedily, not thinking about the heartbreak that was to follow when a life's dream would be lost. Dear American, you are in a recession. However, this is like when you prune a tree and cut back the branches. When the tree grows back, you've got control and the branches will grow bigger and stronger than they were before, without the greed factor. Then, if you don't like the way it grows back, you'll prune it again! I tell you this because awareness is now in control of big money. It's right before your eyes, what you're doing. But fear often rules. …

Graphic Account of Anne Frank’s Tragedy

Jakarta Globe, Katrin Figge | November 22, 2010

More than any other Holocaust figure, Anne Frank has become a leading symbol of the persecution of Jews by the Nazis during World War II.

Based on authentic documents and photos,
the book is a richly-detailed and gripping read.
Many people know her story by heart, owing to the publication of a diary she kept during the two years she and her family took shelter in a secret annex of a house in Amsterdam.

They were found and sent to a concentration camp, where Anne, then aged 15, died of typhus in March 1945, shortly before the camp was liberated.

Otto Frank, her father and the sole survivor of the family, consented to publishing Anne’s journal in 1947, not only because it showed the family’s suffering at the hands of the Germans, but because he knew his daughter’s greatest wish in life was to become a writer.

The book, translated into more than 60 languages and ranked among the world’s most-read works, received critical acclaim, with Anne praised for her eloquence at such a young age.

There have also been several movie adaptations of her and her family’s tragic story.

More recently, Sid Jacobson and Ernie Colon — both authors and illustrators — published a graphic novel titled “Anne Frank: The Anne Frank House Authorized Graphic Biography” in late September.

The work was approved by the Amsterdam-based museum dedicated to archiving and preserving Anne’s photos, mementos and other documents.

“A graphic biography is an effective form to reach both young people and adults,” the Anne Frank House said in a statement on its Web site. “Her life story must be accessible to as large an audience as possible.”

It took Jacobson and Colon almost two years to finish the novel and they described the venture as “demanding and often difficult” in the book’s acknowledgments.

In order to make the art and narrative as authentic as possible, the duo relied heavily on Anne Frank House archives, referencing original photographs and documents whenever possible.

The result was a book that brought her gripping tale to life with stunning artwork.

The graphic novel begins with the wedding of Anne’s parents, Edith and Otto, in 1925, followed shortly after by the birth of her sister, Margot.

As the girls grow up, the rise of Adolf Hitler forces the Franks to flee to Amsterdam, the setting of the infamous annex.

The shock of having to escape from their happy home deeply affects Margot and Anne, both in their early teens.

Even while living in cramped quarters, sharing the secret annex with four other Jews and having to deal with the fear of being discovered, Anne still remained a young girl at heart.

She was concerned with issues any normal teenager would talk about such as a strained relationship with her mother and the magical first kiss.

There is a riveting scene in the graphic novel where the family is discovered and carted off to a concentration camp in September 1944.

The book ends with a chapter that summarizes Anne’s legacy, told from her father’s perspective.

Several snapshots are included in each chapter to give readers background information on important historical events of the time.

These highlight the rise of the ultranationalist Nazi Party during the 1920s as Germany was going through an economic crisis and the proclamation of the Nuremberg Laws in 1935 that deprived Jews in Germany of their rights.

There is also a snapshot of the Wannsee Conference in 1941, during which “the final solution” to the so-called “Jewish problem” was discussed and ultimately decided upon, condemning millions of Jews to years of death and suffering.

The graphics are rich in detail yet never exaggerated. They depict Anne’s life as accurately and simply as possible.

The chapter about the family’s capture, separation and death at the hands of the Nazis is deeply disturbing, captured in gripping fashion by Colon, who used stark illustrations and somber colors for this part of the story.

The narration often quotes directly from Anne’s diary but also draws on other sources, which makes it an engaging read.

The authors are no strangers to handling sensitive subject matters like religious conflict, terrorism and unpopular ideologies.

They worked together on best-sellers “The 9/11 Report: A Graphic Adaptation,” “After 9/11: America’s War on Terror,” and “Che: A Graphic Biography.”

With their latest work, Jacobson and Colon crafted a beautiful and well-researched graphic novel that would surely give interested readers throughout the world an opportunity to glimpse and contemplate the horrors of World War II from a new and no less poignant angle.

Daisy Khan, head of the American Society for Muslim Advancement, says she emerged from her struggle with her faith to adopt a more liberal interpretation of Islam that allows her American identity and religious tradition to co-exist.
