“… The Shift in Human Nature

You're starting to see integrity change. Awareness recalibrates integrity, and the Human Being who would sit there and take advantage of another Human Being in an old energy would never do it in a new energy. The reason? It will become intuitive, so this is a shift in Human Nature as well, for in the past you have assumed that people take advantage of people first and integrity comes later. That's just ordinary Human nature.

In the past, Human nature expressed within governments worked like this: If you were stronger than the other one, you simply conquered them. If you were strong, it was an invitation to conquer. If you were weak, it was an invitation to be conquered. No one even thought about it. It was the way of things. The bigger you could have your armies, the better they would do when you sent them out to conquer. That's not how you think today. Did you notice?

Any country that thinks this way today will not survive, for humanity has discovered that the world goes far better by putting things together instead of tearing them apart. The new energy puts the weak and strong together in ways that make sense and that have integrity. Take a look at what happened to some of the businesses in this great land (USA). Up to 30 years ago, when you started realizing some of them didn't have integrity, you eliminated them. What happened to the tobacco companies when you realized they were knowingly addicting your children? Today, they still sell their products to less-aware countries, but that will also change.

What did you do a few years ago when you realized that your bankers were actually selling you homes that they knew you couldn't pay for later? They were walking away, smiling greedily, not thinking about the heartbreak that was to follow when a life's dream would be lost. Dear American, you are in a recession. However, this is like when you prune a tree and cut back the branches. When the tree grows back, you've got control and the branches will grow bigger and stronger than they were before, without the greed factor. Then, if you don't like the way it grows back, you'll prune it again! I tell you this because awareness is now in control of big money. It's right before your eyes, what you're doing. But fear often rules. …”

In the Netherlands, life expectancy is growing much faster than expected. But the gap between different socioeconomic groups is also getting bigger.

Over the coming four decades the average Dutch life span will increase by six years. Men will commonly live to be 83 and women 88, according to a report published by the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) on Thursday. The scale of the growth comes as a surprise even to the researchers, who had predicted much milder increases in earlier reports.

“I wouldn’t say we failed before. Things just turned out better than predicted,” RIVM director general Marc Sprenger said.

In hindsight, he explained the increase was mostly related to the decrease in mortality caused by cardiovascular disease in the last decade. “We think this is the result of the prescription of cholesterol-reducing drugs,” said Fons van der Lucht, who leads the team that published the report.

Over the last 50 years, life expectancy has grown mostly due to the development of new medications and medical treatments. Never before in history did medicine have such a great effect on life expectancy.

“Good news,” Sprenger said, “But as people get older, they also require more care. The question is who will take care of us.” As the average age of the population increases, the labour force will shrink by 500,000 people by 2050. At the same time, healthcare will need an extra 450,000 pairs of hands in addition to the 1.25 million people already employed by the sector today.

The RIVM study concluded no one able to work could be missed from the labour force. “Increasing the age for retirement to 67 is the bare minimum as far as we are concerned,” Sprenger said, referring to a recent government proposal to do the same. “And keeping people under 65 at work is equally important.”

Public health can be used to strengthen the labour force in two ways: by preventing people from getting sick and by providing means to keep people that have fallen ill on the job, according to the RIVM.

Closing the health gap separating the well and poorly educated groups of the population could also offer huge benefits, the researchers say. On average, the least educated people in the Netherlands live seven years shorter than the best educated. Even with their reduced life span, less educated people spend an average seven years living with illness and disabilities.

Attempts to close the gap through preventative measures have failed in recent years, both the RIVM and the Health Inspectorate (IGZ) said on Thursday. Local governments that were supposed to set up prevention programmes to reduce socioeconomic differences in health, failed to be successful. “These differences are increasing rather than decreasing,” the inspectorate wrote in its report about the state of healthcare in the Netherlands.

“All known risk factors seem to come together in the low-income, low-education demographic,” Van der Lucht of the RIVM said. “Smoking, little exercise, eating little fruit. It goes hand in hand and is hard to change.”

Indicated prevention has been suggested as one of the solutions. This would allows people in high risk groups or those who have begun to develop an illness to participate in programmes aimed at improving their lifestyle.

Many extra years

Different medical specialities yield different increases in life expectancy. Cardiologists have the highest score. They give people an extra 2.0 years to life. Specialists treating infectious disease deliver a solid 1.4 years. Cancer specialists allow men to remain alive for 0.3 years longer and women for 0.85. Better natal care has increased life expectancy by 1.8 years and improved treatment of diabetes 0.3 years. Nursing homes increase the average life span by 0.1 years.
