… The Shift in Human Nature

You're starting to see integrity change. Awareness recalibrates integrity, and the Human Being who would sit there and take advantage of another Human Being in an old energy would never do it in a new energy. The reason? It will become intuitive, so this is a shift in Human Nature as well, for in the past you have assumed that people take advantage of people first and integrity comes later. That's just ordinary Human nature.

In the past, Human nature expressed within governments worked like this: If you were stronger than the other one, you simply conquered them. If you were strong, it was an invitation to conquer. If you were weak, it was an invitation to be conquered. No one even thought about it. It was the way of things. The bigger you could have your armies, the better they would do when you sent them out to conquer. That's not how you think today. Did you notice?

Any country that thinks this way today will not survive, for humanity has discovered that the world goes far better by putting things together instead of tearing them apart. The new energy puts the weak and strong together in ways that make sense and that have integrity. Take a look at what happened to some of the businesses in this great land (USA). Up to 30 years ago, when you started realizing some of them didn't have integrity, you eliminated them. What happened to the tobacco companies when you realized they were knowingly addicting your children? Today, they still sell their products to less-aware countries, but that will also change.

What did you do a few years ago when you realized that your bankers were actually selling you homes that they knew you couldn't pay for later? They were walking away, smiling greedily, not thinking about the heartbreak that was to follow when a life's dream would be lost. Dear American, you are in a recession. However, this is like when you prune a tree and cut back the branches. When the tree grows back, you've got control and the branches will grow bigger and stronger than they were before, without the greed factor. Then, if you don't like the way it grows back, you'll prune it again! I tell you this because awareness is now in control of big money. It's right before your eyes, what you're doing. But fear often rules. …

Dutch comeback kid to revive Swedish Saab

NRC International, 27 January 2010 17:04, by Cees Banning

Tiny Dutch Spyker will buy the once mighty Saab, with help from the Swedish government. If it goes wrong, Swedish tax payers have to foot the bill.

The question on everybody's lips at the press conference in Stockholm on Tuesday was raised by Spyker chief executive Victor Muller himself. "How can such a small Dutch company take over Swedish Saab?" He answered it by saying these are abnormal times in the car industry during which unusual transactions take place. "Under normal circumstances, probably Saab would have been buying Spyker," Muller told reporters.

But the result of the difficult hive off by American owner General Motors is that the tiny sports car maker is incorporating the much larger manufacturer. Spyker last year produced 43 cars, at an average price of 200,000 euros, with little over 100 employees. At its peak, Saab made over 100,000 cars and it currently employs 3,400.

GM had started dismantling the company in December, when it still seemed it would remain unable find a buyer for its troubled subsidiary. That process was halted after a deal was reached with Spyker for 74 million US dollars in cash plus 326 million dollars worth of preferred shares in Saab.

Optimism and unlimited energy

It is not the first time Muller, who revived the Spyker brand a decade ago, surprised the world with his optimism and unlimited energy. When Spyker was losing money in 2006, he bought a Formula 1 team for tens of millions of euros in a disastrous attempt to put his company on the map internationally. But negative publicity, investor walk-outs and troubles with the Dutch stock-market watchdog did little to steer Muller from his path.

The acquisition was hailed by politicians in Sweden, where Saab’s closing could have put 8,000 people (employers, car dealers and suppliers) out of work. The Swedish government, awaiting parliamentary elections later this year, did everything it could to prevent that.

To fund its acquisition, Spyker has requested a 400-million euro loan from the European Investment Bank, underwritten by the Swedish government.

New models

The European Commission has yet to approve the state guarantee, Swedish enterprise minister Maud Olofsson said Tuesday. She approved the guarantee on the condition Saab would produce more environmentally friendly cars in the future. If the new Spyker-Saab combination fails, Swedish taxpayers will pick up the cheque.

Muller told reporters he was mostly interested in the Swedish company for its technological knowledge that could benefit Spyker. Saab employs highly qualified experts, has excellent production facilities, and a global distribution network at its - and now Spyker’s - disposal. Muller said Saab would benefit from no longer being part of a conglomerate like GM. He also said he intended to introduce new Saab models.

Not everyone believes the merger of a mass market car manufacturer like Saab and a niche player like Spyker will create synergy. Fiat boss Sergio Marchionne said Saab would struggle: “I think it’s very difficult to be a niche player and profitable. Marginal players will continue to be marginalised," he told British magazine Autocar. Muller responded fiercely to the comment saying: "We will prove the opposite."

Swedish press

The deal is far from risk-free for the taxpayer, leading Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter wrote in an editorial responding to the takeover. The newspaper is worried the government will need make good on its guarantee of Spyker’s loan . "Can a company like Spyker, which is losing money heavily and makes fifty cars a year, do what the Wallenberg empire and General Motors failed to - make Saab profitable? The business logic behind the purchase by the little Spyker is hard to see."

Victor Muller

  • People who have worked with Spyker chief Victor Muller praise his enthusiasm and power to convince others. He is known for "unusual transactions in absurd times", as he has called the Saab acquisition. In 2004 he brought Spyker to the Amsterdam stock exchange, when the markets were still recovering from the burst of the dot-com bubble. The listing was never successful and barely boosted the equity capital, but did get him in trouble with market watchdog AFM, which fined him 96,000 euros in 2008 for feeding insider trading information to Theodoor Gilissen private bankers.

  • Spyker’s purchase of a Formula 1 racing team in 2006, got the company deeper in already existing of financial trouble and made Muller collide with fellow shareholders, investors and journalists. He stood down as CEO in May 2007, but returned seven months later.
