Dutch paedophile sentenced to 37 years

The Dutch foreign ministry has confirmed that a Dutch citizen has been sentenced to 37 years by a Thai court.

The appeals court found him guilty of child sex abuse and confirmed the term of imprisonment handed down earlier by a lower court.

The 64-year old Dutchman was arrested in the coastal resort of Hua Hin in 2007. He was found guilty of abusing a 12-year old boy four times. The convict paid the victim 200 baht - a little under five euros - ostensibly to clean his hotel room.
