Dutch skater wins fourth European title

Sven Kramer wins fourth European title (ANP)

At the European Speed Skating Championships in the Norwegian town of Hamar, top Dutch skater Sven Kramer has become the all-round European champion for the fourth year in a row.

He won the final 10,000 metre race, beating off his main competitor, Italy's Enrico Fabris, who ended second in the overall rankings. Russia's Ivan Skobrev came third.

In the women's competition, Dutch skater Ireen Wüst failed to hold on to her lead in the 5,000 metres and lost to the Czech Republic's Martina Sáblíková, who ended in first place in the overall rankings. Wüst ended second, while Germany's Daniela Anschütz-Thoms came third.
